Motorloc 8: Ducroo & Brauns

Deze locomotief (oorspr. spw 600 mm) is afkomstig van de Rotterdamse Drinkwaterleiding en is in 1977 overgegaan naar de Nederlandse Smalspoor Stichting. Deze locomotief, gebouwd door Du Croo & Brauns, was een bijzondere aanwinst. Du Croo&Brauns met vestigingen in Weesp en Amsterdam, heeft behalve veel stoomlocomotieven, ook diesellocomotieven gebouwd, dit laatste deels als onderaannemer. Pas na de Tweede Wereldoorlog ging D&B zelfstandig als motorlocfabrikant verder. De door D&B gebouwde stoomlocomotieven zijn voor het grootste gedeelte verscheept naar de toenmalige overzeese gebiedsdelen. In Nederland zijn de Du Croo & Brauns niet meer aanwezig, motorlocs zijn een zeldzame verschijning. In Indonesië rijdt nog steeds een aantal Du Croo&Brauns op suikerrietplantages.

This locomotive (original gauge 600 mm) comes from the Rotterdam fresh water plant, and is handed over to the NSS in 1977. This locomotive, built by Du Croo & Brauns, was a very special acquisition. Du Croo&Brauns was present in Weesp and Amsterdam, built many steamlocomotives, and also diesellocomotives. The latter partly as subcontractor. After World War 2 D&B continued as an independent motorlocomotive builder. Almost all steamlocomotives built by D&B were shipped to the former overseas territories. In the Netherlands are no more Du Croo & Brauns steamlocomotives; motorlocomotives are rare. Only few examples are known. Three of these have been acquired for the NSS. In Indonesia there is still a small number of Ducroo&Braun steamlocomotives in service on sugar(-cane)-plantations.

The engine is in good condition.
